Reality Check

With so much work to accomplish every day, my weekends have been anything but restful.

I have been waking up too early every morning in a rush because of so many things to do.

How unlikely of me.

I am disappointed with myself because I have allowed myself to reach this exhausting point.

A year down the road feels like a decade.

I value the work that I do but, admittedly, it’s taking a toll on me.

Maybe it’s just another hiccup in life.

Maybe it’s just an off year.

I can’t help but at times wonder…

Could there be yet another something for me out there?

Something that will keep me motivated.

Something what will shift me to a better place.

Not just work wise but all around life kind of thing.

You see, truth is, I’m on my own.

Not that it’s a bad thing, it just is.

I know God hears.

Eventually things will shift again.

Just have to sit it out and ride the tide.

Once More with Feeling

I can’t give up on writing.

It’s what keeps me alive.

No wonder I’ve been feeling out of sorts.

I haven’t written in a long time!

I got stuck.

I fell into a pit and got stuck.

I kept climbing back up but kept falling back in.

I think I’ve finally made it out of the dungeon.

Once more with feeling I am going to write.

I feel a little bit rusty but I can’t give up.

Not this time around.

I’m not getting any younger.

Not that it’s about age.

But who knows, one day my forgetfulness with reign.

And then I’ll totally forget about writing.

I’m back.

Once more with feeling.

Glad to hear it! I feel the same way - it helps to clear away the noise - and life is so noisy these days.

VALIDATION

Two years gone by, out of the blue I receive a heartwarming message of thanks.

A former student struggling to make graduation made it!

Long overdue but he finally made it.

He reached out to let me know how much he appreciated our talks and words of encouragement.

If not for those moments, he claims he would have given up.

Hearing from him lifted my spirits and put me back on track with regard to my purpose.

In life, that is.

My drive comes from helping others.

I am reminded of my days after college, struggling to survive, no job.

$99 in my wallet.

I lived on dollar frozen pizzas until my first paycheck.

So yes, validation is always good to hear.

More so at midlife when you find yourself once again struggling with purpose.

Survival with purpose or merely survival to live?

Today is the day I re-validate my purpose in life.

It’s not merely to live.

I want to live knowing that I can continue to make a difference in helping others.

Castles on a Rainy Day

It’s been raining for days on end.

The girls are back from their trips.

Home is warm with their presence once again.

M1 bought all sorts of souvenirs.

A paper weight of a castle she visited.

I sat at the breakfast table this morning.

Indeed! the castle figurine caught my eye.

Why not give it a try!

I pulled out my sketchpad and pens.
