The chair knows who he is -

forget memory foam -

It hears him coming,

catlike and unshod,

and braces for the slump

 

 

He sports a dark blue sock

with an emerald toe

and a furry one, ankle-patterned,

I wouldn't bet on it, I say

 

 

Outside, the clink of recycling,

the dog lets rip a volley of ire
