Autumn Jewels

Among the many joys of autumn it is sometimes the simplest of pleasures that we long for most.

A crisp apple.  A light scent of wood smoke.

That morning your breath first forms a whisp of vapor.

A flock of geese struggling to form a ‘V’ in the sky.

To walk among the giant bosque Cottonwoods by the river is a favorite thing.

They are the royalty of the river valley.

They wear a golden crown.

Shoulder by shoulder they march down the valley. So ancient and twisted from the wind. Stout anchors to tame the river’s flood.

The season rewards us with pleasant memories to ease us through the months ahead. To live among these simple things is a blessing in itself.
